Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Attorney's Office has taken legal action by filing a case against 290 individuals at the District Court, Kathmandu, in connection with the Lalita Niwas land scam involving document forgery.
The decision to file the case was based on the investigative report and recommendations provided by Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). Out of the total defendants, 52 individuals have been named for their involvement in land seizure activities linked to the scandal.
Individuals accused of forging official documents to facilitate the public land grab are facing charges that carry a potential one-year imprisonment penalty, while government officials and ministers implicated in the scandal could face up to two years of imprisonment.
